Asian American Voices aims to celebrate the diversity of Asian and Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) heritage at LaGuardia Community College. Inaugurated in 2019, the journal explores these diverse narratives, histories, cultures, and religions, among other topics. LaGuardia students of all backgrounds can submit critical essays, term papers, creative fiction, poetry, recipes, art (photos, drawing, graphic art etc.), or interviews that address themes and literary/visual work related to Asian American Studies.

Students who identify as AAPI are also encouraged to showcase their culture, identity, heritage, and/or write in their home languages (with English translation included).

If you’d like to explore how to incorporate materials from our previous issue into their classrooms, please see a list and pdfs of individual articles from all issues: https://bit.ly/LG-AAV. Published artistic and written pieces address themes such as student’s explorations of identity, experiences at LaGuardia, migration, gender, intergenerational encounters, ancestors, food, COVID-19, and profiles of Asian American faculty and staff, among others.

Thank you in advance for sharing the attached flyer with your students and encouraging them to submit. Please reach out to me with questions (abaksh@lagcc.cuny.edu).
