Many Japanese animators work in sweatshop studios

Many animation creators in Japan financially struggle in a sweatshop-style business model. A top animation creator in Japan make just $1,400 to $3,800 a month (about $45,000 a year) whereas the comparable salary of the top animator in the U.S. is about $75,000.
