• Date: Wednesday, April 30, 2025
• Time: 5:45pm – 7:30pm
• Place: Room E-501
• Speakers: Jiro Hamasumi and Hiroshi Kanemoto, the Japan Federation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organization (Nihon Hidankyo)
A talk will be given by two Hibakusha, survivors of the atomic bomb, as they renew their commitment to abolishing all nuclear weapons during these uncertain times. Nihon Hidankyo received the Nobel Peace Prize last year for its efforts to address plans for nuclear disarmament at the United Nations and promote reflection on the impact of nuclear warfare. In the 80th anniversary of the bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we invite participants to have a conversation with Hibakusha and consider the dangers associated with nuclear armament and the importance of working toward a future free of such weapons.
