FX/Hulu’s historical drama “Shogun” made Emmy history by becoming the first non-English-language series to win Best Drama, along with many other Emmy titles. The show also swept the Creative Arts Emmys the previous weekend, claiming a record-breaking 14 awards, surpassing “Game of Thrones” which won 12 in 2015. During the Emmy Awards ceremony, co-host Daniel Levy highlighted “Shogun’s” historic achievement. The series continued its streak by winning four additional awards on the main night: Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai won for Lead Actor and Actress in a Drama Series, Frederick E.O. Toye won for directing, and the show itself won Outstanding Drama Series. The recognition solidifies “Shogun’s” status as a groundbreaking production in television history.
