LaGuardia Community College is recruiting current LaGuardia students who are interested in a paid, in-person position as a Student Success Mentor (SSM) (https://www.laguardia.edu/students/peer-programs/student-success-mentors/).
The eligibility for the position is the following:
- 24 + credits
- GPA of 3.0 +
- Be a current student at LaGuardia Community College; OR a LaGuardia alum currently attending a four-year college
Please also note:
- SSMs will be expected to perform their work duties in-person in Spring 2024. This is an on-campus, position, requiring a minimum of 12 hours per week of work.

- Please note that if you are considering applying for on-campus employment with the Peer Advisor Academy or STM Program, the SSM Program cannot employ you in multiple programs. This is because these programs fall within the Center for Teaching and Learning, like the SSM program. Therefore, if you are offered multiple positions, you would need to choose one
Work Authorization
- In order to be employed as a Student Success Mentor at LaGuardia, all prospective SSMs need to be authorized to work legally in the United States–or have obtained work authorization as soon as possible after receiving an offer to work as an SSM. To this end, applicants must be U.S Citizens, permanent residents, or International Students possessing an F-1 student visa. While you will not be asked to submit this now, if you are offered the position, you will be asked to provide documentation showing your eligibility to work lawfully in the United States.
Mandatory training:
- All candidates who are offered a position with the SSM program must attend and complete mandatory (paid) training in-person on LaGuardia campus, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am-3pm beginning Monday, January 8 – Wednesday, February 14.
