Virtual Language Exchange Project with Shinshu University in Japan (Spring 2025)

Language Lounge is an international virtual language exchange project, which connects students from Shinshu University in Japan and CUNY’s Baruch and LaGuardia campuses in New York City. Designed to foster global understanding and improve communication skills, the Language Lounge brings together participants via online meetups. The program encourages cultural exchange and provides a relaxed environment where students practice speaking in both Japanese and English.

  • Date:
    • Every Thursday from Thursday, April 17, 2025 to Thursday, May 22, 2025
    • Time: 7:00pm-7:30pm (in the NY time)
    • Place: Zoom

  • Purpose:
    • To create a friendly, interactive space for students to practice language skills in Japanese and English.
    • To promote understanding and engagement across global cultures through regular conversation.
  • Participating Institutions:
    • Shinshu University (including campuses in Nagano and Ueda, Japan).
    • CUNY Baruch College and LaGuardia Community College (New York City).
  • Event Structure:
    • Meetups are designed under the “Speak Up!” theme, encouraging active participation and dialogue.
    • Regular sessions are scheduled online via Zoom.
