The API (Academic Peer Instruction) Program is now accepting applications for the next cohort of API tutors for Fall 2023. The API hires students before the start of the semester and interested and eligible students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
Who is eligible to apply? Current LaGuardia students with:
- GPA of 3.0 or above
- Completed a “high risk” or challenging course and received a grade of B+ or better
- Able to devote 10 hours a week of their time to helping others

What will students gain by joining the API program?
Students will have the opportunity to:
- Develop leadership skills
- Strengthen knowledge in the subject area
- Enjoy the good feeling of having helped other students improve their grades
- Gain valuable teaching/tutoring experience and strengthen their own self-confidence – many of our leaders have successfully transferred to top colleges thanks to their role as API leaders
- Be paid for their efforts
