LaGuardia Community College is looking for New Student Orientation Peer Leaders. New Student Orientation Peer Leaders will assist the New Student Orientation Program on Thursday, September 8, 2022. The compensation is $225. The deadline for applications is Thursday, August 25, 2022.
New Student Orientation (NSO) Peer Leaders’ Responsibilities:
- Welcome new students to LaGuardia Community College during New Student Orientation (NSO) program.
- Provide New Student Orientation event support (including event set-up & close-out assistance, program check-in assistance and program directional assistance).
- Facilitate interactive activities (engage with students in M-Gym during Support Services Fair & Welcome Social) & provide mini campus tours.
NSO Peer Leader Requirements:
- Candidates must be current LaGuardia Community College students with a 2.5 GPA or higher.
- Candidates must be registered for Fall 2022 classes.
- English proficiency.
- Proficiency in other languages a plus!
- Ability to work well in a leadership capacity with individuals and groups.
IMPORTANT MANDATORY DATES
- NSO Peer Leaders’ Training – Wednesday, August 31st, 11:00am – 4:00pm (in-person, location TBA).
- New Student Orientation Program – Thursday, September 8th, 9:00am – 6:40pm at E-Atrium, Main Stage Theater, Main Stage Lobby, Little Theater, Poolside Cafe, E-111, Multiple E-Building & M-Building classrooms, and the M-Gym.
- NSO Peer Leaders are required to report to campus at 8:00am on Thursday, September 8th.
COMPENSATION
$225 for participating in NSO Peer Leaders training on August 31st and for providing NSO program assistance on September 8th, during both AM and PM sessions (15 hours total; Peer Leaders will be provided two 45-minute breaks during NSO).
All applications submitted online starting Monday, August 22nd – Thursday, August 25th will be considered. Selected applicants will be contacted over the phone for interviews on Thursday, August 25th. Interviews will take place via Zoom on Friday, August 26th from 9:30am – 5:00pm.
