Japan has been under a state of emergency due to an increase of COVID-19 since late April. Vaccine is scarce and very few were vaccinated. The recent poll shows that 70% of Japanese do not want the Olympic Games to be held this summer. Despite a number of reasons for cancelling the games, Japan is slowly moving to host the Olympics Games, which is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 23, 2021.
