The Daily, the New York Times’s podcast, featured the shrinking population in Japan in the past few decades. The low birthrate in Japan and its aging society are probably well-known, but it is less known that the same sign that Japan saw in the 1980’s started to emerge in the U.S. now. The most recent census data show a steep decline in the birthrate in the U.S.
